Peace is declared in the Scrabble world

by Xylophone @ 2007-02-28 - 00:31:55

As you probably already know, the UK Scrabble playing community has been in turmoil for the last couple of years as the changeover from Chambers to Collins dictionaries did not go smoothly.

But now we have good news. The new authorised word list is availably and will be the standard reference for all serious english language scrabble the world over from May.

Seasoned Scrabble players are especialy excited at having the chance to play new words such as KI, ZA and JAXY.

If you'd like a copy of this splendid tome then its retail price is £10 though you may get it a bit cheaper here http://www.tilefish.co.uk/ although you might have to pretend you're a member of a Scrabble club. My gran has just gone back to playing Scrabble. She used to be second on the Isle of Wight and at one point 30th in Britain.

God bless xx

It's good to hear your gran is back in the fold. Maybe I've played her?

I like the odd game of Scrabble although I've never played in a competition. I nearly always beat my book collector mate though and it really annoys him. He's too competitive and doesn't concentrate on the game.

I think that getting the official word list takes the game to another level of enjoyment. Especially if you've been learning some words and your mate hasn't. ;-)

Oh, I don't know. It might be too much for him to cope with. He gets so wound up as it is.
